Terms and Conditions
Definitions
The person who wins the auction for the Six-Session Counseling Package is referred to as the “bidder.”
The bidder may choose retain the Six-Session Counseling Package for themselves or give it to another person. Whoever is to receive this package is the “receiver.” Should you choose to gift this to another person, please note that therapy can be challenging and difficult. Please consider if your chosen recipient has the motivation needed to stick with therapy.
Once the receiver has started counseling, they are the “client.”
Duration and Sessions
The Six-Session Counseling Package includes six standard 45 to 50 minute counseling sessions in the Counseling Room at All Saints in Knoxville, TN. The sessions expire on December 1, 2023. The treatment plan will be designed to optimize the results within the six-session timeframe. However, if the client desires to continue therapy, it will happen at the normal session rate. See the FAQ for fee information.
The client will be able to schedule a session each week that Bosco Counseling is operating. Note that some weeks will not be available because Bosco Counseling has a vacation schedule.
Scheduling and Rescheduling
Sessions must be scheduled in advance, subject to the availability of the counselor.
Changes to the schedule can be made with sufficient notice.
No shows and late cancellations are discouraged. If a client fails to show up for an appointment, then that session is forfeited. If the client provides sufficient notice, then a session can be rescheduled without consequence.
Confidentiality
Licensed counselors are held to strict guidelines regarding confidentiality. Generally speaking, client information and session content cannot be shared by the counselor. Exceptions include situations where there’s a serious risk of harm to the client or others. Details are provided in the Informed Consent document. Here’s a link to an example Informed Consent document (note that there will be some modifications due to a lack of a need to make payment for sessions for the Six-Session Counseling Package.)
Termination
The Six-Session Counseling Package is an auction item and is thus non-refundable.
The counselor reserves the right to terminate the counseling sessions if the client engages in any inappropriate behavior or violates the counselor's professional boundaries. Even so, note that the counselor is required to operate within ethical guidelines as issued by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
Scope of Services
The counseling services provided are within the scope of the counselor's professional qualifications and expertise.
The counselor may refer the client to appropriate specialists or resources if specific needs fall outside their expertise. Those services are outside the scope of this auction item.
The counseling profession discourages therapist from engaging in a professional relationships when a close relationship already exists. Those that are close to Robert Rust should take this into account before bidding on this package.
A Word About Therapy
Clients often tell me that they leave their sessions feeling like they have worked very hard. They may something like, “These sessions are exhausting,” or “I had planned to go to the grocery store, but now I’m going straight home.” This is a function of the type of issues faced during the session. However, do be aware that we may delve into issues that have long been problematic and need to be addressed. That can be tiring, but it also tends to bring significant long-term benefits.
Legal Considerations
This auction item does not constitute a therapeutic contract or establish a therapeutic relationship until the receiver and counselor mutually agree to start the counseling sessions. There are some legal documents that the receiver must sign before therapy can begin. These include the receiver’s informed consent for service, demographic information, and emergency contact information.
