  • My colleagues have shared their reasons for refusing insurance. The following is the summary. If you’d like to see the long version, click here!

    1) Significantly more work for significantly less pay; 2) Many counseling services are not covered by insurance; 3) Insurance companies tend to hinder/limit the therapeutic process by limiting services; 4) Insurance companies will bill therapists for thousands of dollars if they later decide to not cover a client after they had already paid for months of services.

  • At Bosco Counseling, we strive to provide high-quality, personalized mental health services at rates that reflect our commitment to accessibility while supporting ongoing professional growth. Our current session fee is $115 which allows us to address rising operational costs and continued investment in advanced training.

To put this in perspective, the median rate for similar counseling services in our area is $135, with an average of $143. We intentionally keep our fees below these benchmarks to make therapy more attainable for our clients, without compromising on the depth and effectiveness of care.

What sets us apart is our dedication to excellence: Each year, I invest thousands of dollars and dedicate about half a month to advanced study, specialized classes, and professional consultations. This allows me to continually expand my toolkit with evidence-based skills, techniques, and approaches tailored to diverse needs. Unlike a "one-size-fits-all" model, I customize sessions to what best suits your unique situation. The more tools I acquire, the better equipped I am to support you effectively and help you achieve meaningful progress.

  • Bosco Counseling has both in-person and telehealth sessions available. All things being equal, Bosco Counseling recommends in-person for optimal therapeutic depth. However, that is not always possible. If you desire to utilize Telehealth, Bosco Counseling can accommodate that desire.

  • NO SHOW: If a client does not show up to an appointment, then the full fee is charged. However, if the client does not make the appointment because of an unexpected major life event, then we invite the client to request that Bosco Counseling consider reducing or eliminating the charge as a way to share the financial burden.

CANCELLATION: There is no charge for cancellations made with a 24 hours advanced notice.

LATE CANCELLATION: If the client does inform Bosco Counseling that they can’t make their appointment within the 24-hour window, Bosco Counseling may charge less than the full fee for the missed appointment.

RESCHEDULING: There is no charge for rescheduling when it is done with a 24-hour advanced notice. Otherwise, the appointment is treated as a late cancellation.

  • Something to keep in mind is that insurance companies generally do not cover certain forms of counseling (for example, marriage counseling). Additionally, there are likely other counseling services that are not covered by most insurance plans.

Bosco Counseling does not accept insurance for several reasons. The most important reason is that we want to provide the level and amount of care deemed necessary for the particular situation.
