These articles began as homilies that I have shared at Mass. I rewrote them so someone looking for help can find help that is connected to Catholic teaching. Each one starts with a real situation, says what I think is true, and ends with one thing you can do. I have divided the articles into different areas. The areas are listed below, just pick the area that is closest to where it hurts.
Depression
When you cannot make yourself move, or you live with someone who cannot.
Marriage
When the pattern in the house is costing the marriage.
Shame
When a mistake, or the fear of being seen as one, runs the day.
Social Anxiety
When you walk into a room already sure you will be found out.
Control
When a plan, a show, or a project gets to override the people in the room.
Trauma
When something has just heaved, and you cannot tell what is still standing.
Boundaries
When you cannot say no without feeling like you have disappeared.
Grief
When the hope you were living on did not arrive in the form you expected.
People-Pleasing
When you tell the truth at home and a false yes everywhere else.
Chronic Illness
When the hard thing is real and it will not leave this week.
